Local elections were held on 2 May 2019 with Conservatives predicted to suffer significant losses. In total, more than 8,000 seats are available on 248 English councils and all 11 Northern Irish councils, plus six mayoral posts.
The 2 main parties suffered significant losses.
As expected, tThe Conservative Party lost 1,330 seats and overall control of 44 councils.
However, the Labour Party should also be somewhat concerned having lost 84 seats and overall control of 6 councils.
The newly formed Brexit party did not field any candidates in the local elections.
